WWOOFing & Interns
Get your hands dirty…
We use the term ‘WWOOFer’ in both its formal sense (a traveler registered with
the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms network – www.wwoof.ca) and in its colloquial sense (a person looking for opportunities to work alongside organic farmers within a reasonable distance from their home community but choose not to register with the formal WWOOF organisation). We regularly host young (mostly) people who fall into one or the other definition. And we enjoy the experiences, perspectives and inspiration we receive from the exchange. We’ve had WWOOFers come for a few days and we’ve had some come for 6 months or more. In every case we offer food, lodging, learning opportunities and integration with our family in exchange for work and all those other less measurable benefits. Generally there is no cash exchanged.
